Warwick District Council manages approximately 6000 homes. We are currently expanding to help people to thrive in our communities and as such have an exciting opportunity for additional Housing Officers to join our Landlord Operations Team. As a Housing Officer, you will be based predominantly out on patch delivering a comprehensive housing management service, managing a range of tenancies and related responsibilities. This will include tenancy sustainment, anti-social behaviour case management, managing breaches of tenancy, safeguarding, inspections, customer signposting, tenancy audits and supporting sustainable communities through proactive intervention. You will work closely with customers, contractors, local agencies, and internal teams to resolve issues effectively, supporting vulnerable tenants, whilst maintaining a visible presence within neighbourhoods. The role will also involve carrying out tenancy checks, supporting new tenancy sign-ups, managing abandoned properties, and assisting with community engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with tenants and customers using a problem solving and flexible approach in undertaking day to day duties in order to achieve positive outcomes and utilising mediation skills when dealing with difficult problems.
  • Identifying support needs to help our customers to sustain their tenancies.
  • Balancing support with enforcement, representing Warwick District Council in court where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience in housing management.
  • Strong understanding of tenancy management, safeguarding, anti-social behaviour, and neighbourhood management principles.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, alongside the ability to manage a diverse caseload and work collaboratively with external agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, and confident in dealing with challenging situations whilst maintaining excellent customer service standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work flexibly to changing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members and clients.
  • Proficient in ICT applications.
  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal, working with housing clients.
  • Emotional intelligence.
  • Background in housing.
  • Experience in interpreting complex housing legislation.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
