The position is permanent, with the preferred location in Havant, Portsmouth.

What you will be doing

The ADR cell encompasses a range of manual machines manufacturing components for seal assemblies and spares. This position involves operating grinding machines, milling machines, turning machines, and lapping machines, machining materials such as Inconel, stainless steels, carbon, and composites. Business demand will determine the required manpower and skills, with duties assigned accordingly.

Flexibility is key, as duties vary and must be carried out safely and accurately to meet our OTIF targets.

As a Machinist (Surface grinders), your responsibilities include:

• Operating drilling, lapping, and grinding machines
• Working to tight tolerances using measuring equipment
• Interpreting engineering drawings and processes
• Handling highly resistant materials like Inconel
• Communicating proactively with operations teams to meet OTIF
• Continuously improving processes and procedures
• Adhering to H&S safety procedures
• Performing any other duties as required

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Experience in a tool room environment
• Experience with surface grinding machines
• Assembly and fitting experience
• At least 5 years in an engineering environment
• Understanding of health and safety procedures
• Mechanical and assembly aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret drawings
• Effective communication skills within a small team
• College-level education or solid manufacturing industry experience
