Reporting to the department Manager, this is a hands-on senior position where you will be responsible for the team providing CNC programs on time in line with the business schedule.
- Plan and delegate the work to the team ensuring priorities are understood.
- Responsible for creating offline CNC code primarily for the machining of parts on 5 Axis CNC vertical mill/turn lathes (Mazak Integrex e-1600V, e1060V8 & i500) and other CNC machines when required.
- Drive improvements and reduce program creation times.
- Maintain and develop software.
- Demonstrate strong offline programming skills.
- Create accurate tooling and set up sheets.
- Experience of working with super alloys - Inconel 625, Duplex, CNC, NAB.
- Communicate and liaise with machinist team in a confident and understanding manner.
- Prepared to be flexible with working hours to suit the business needs.
- Work to tight deadlines to achieve on time delivery targets.
- Possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Supervise and mentor junior members of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Clear communications and hands on approach with a strong work ethic.
- Drive improvements as part of continuous improvement culture.
- Working in a safe manner in line with the companies Health and Safety policy.
- Ensure quality is maintained and processes are correctly implemented to company standards.
- Have a flexible approach and at times move onto other disciplines within skill set.
- Help with skills flex training and cross train others when required.
Essential Experience:
- Experience of working in a busy production office environment.
- Ideally Apprentice served with machinist experience background.
- Strong modern tooling knowledge.
- Work holding /fixture design experience.
- Proficient using Edgecam, Mastercam or similar.
- Mazatrol - matrixcam2 & DX Soft Control programming.
- Expert CAD skills. Solid Edge or similar system.
- I.S.O Programming & Mazatrol experience desirable.
- Vericut - anti-collision software experience.
- Familiar with mill turn techniques.
- Computer Literate (Microsoft).
- SAP experience an advantage.
Education:
- Apprenticeship/machinist background HNC/HND desired but relevant experience will also be considered.
Experience:
- 10 years (min) Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry.
- 10 years (min) CNC Programming knowledge.
- CI experience (6 Sigma principles).
