Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology. We are looking for a (Senior) Technical Expert Propulsion to join our technical service team in Glasgow, United Kingdom. The role reports to the General Manager Technical Services Central Europe Region and serves both internal and external customers with all operational technical inquiries related to Wärtsilä Propulsion Equipment.
Responsibilities
- Manage complex technical and operational problems to ensure customer satisfaction and on‑time support.
- Participate in customer and vendor meetings as a technical expert when complex matters arise.
- Perform troubleshooting, technical field investigations, and screening of field service reports.
- Visit sites for deeper product, system, or performance analysis.
- Analyse field experience and customer feedback to improve products, solutions, operation and maintenance.
- Write logical and understandable reports with conclusions and recommendations.
- Handle technical requests from internal and external customers.
- Communicate directly with internal and external customers regarding technical enquiries.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Safety‑first mindset.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or equivalent.
- High level of mechanical and automation experience with Wärtsilä propulsion equipment; experience with non‑Wärtsilä propulsion equipment is a strong plus.
- Experience in a service support role with propulsion or large rotating equipment, especially Wärtsilä products.
- Proactive team‑player with technical reporting skills.
- Strong communicator with good organizational and analytical skills.
- Positive mindset and openness to learning.
- Proactive, customer‑focused service attitude.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; local language (German or Dutch) also required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
