As part of Wärtsilä’s Marketing and Communications, Digital Marketing Operations and Technology team, we are looking for a Digital Marketing Development and Technology Lead. In this role, you will define and lead the strategic direction of the Wärtsilä website as a core digital business and brand platform, while driving the development of search capabilities across SEO, GEO, and AEO to strengthen discoverability, engagement and long‑term value creation across traditional and generative search environments.

You will collaborate closely with the other Digital Marketing Development and Technology Leads as well as Marketing Operations Experts, Wärtsilä IT, our business marketing teams and key stakeholders across the organisation to align the website and search development with broader business priorities, customer needs and evolving digital opportunities. This position reports to the Head of Digital Marketing Technology.

The preferred locations for this role are Finland, France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland or the UK.

Key responsibilities
  • Owning and driving the strategic direction of wartsila.com, ensuring the website supports business growth, customer engagement and brand objectives.
  • Leading the prioritisation and development of website capabilities, translating business needs, user insights and market developments into a clear roadmap.
  • Owning the search strategy across SEO, GEO and AEO, and driving related development initiatives to improve digital visibility, reach and performance across search and generative platforms.
  • Building Wärtsilä’s zero‑click understanding and action plan to strengthen content visibility and effectiveness within search engine results and AI‑powered discovery experiences.
  • Owning website reporting, analytics and performance follow‑up to generate actionable insights, guide decision‑making and maximise business value.
  • Leading Salesforce‑related website development in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders to support integrations and enable seamless digital experiences.
  • Owning and developing the relevant technology stack, including vendor collaboration, governance and license management, to ensure scalability, reliability and future readiness.
  • Ensuring the effective maintenance, optimisation and troubleshooting of the digital technology stack that supports website performance and continuity.
  • Providing hands‑on support for execution‑related activities when needed, while maintaining a strong focus on strategic development priorities.
Position requirements
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in marketing and digital marketing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, engineering or a relevant field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of defining and driving website strategy, optimisation and continuous development in a complex business environment.
  • Deep expertise in SEO, GEO and AEO, with the ability to translate search developments and AI‑driven discovery trends into strategic direction and measurable business impact.
  • Strong understanding of website‑related technologies, platforms, integrations and the broader digital marketing technology ecosystem.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GenAI, emerging digital trends and their implications for website development, search and customer experience.
  • Proven ability to prioritise, structure and drive progress in a complex, fast‑paced environment with multiple stakeholders and competing needs.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to digital marketing development initiatives and project management in cross‑functional environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective partnerships across teams and stakeholder groups.
