The predicted salary is between 20000 - 25000 £ per year.
We are seeking to appoint an Inclusion Support Assistant to work with a young person in our Reception Class. A Level 3 TA qualification is desirable, with experience of supporting SEND pupils. Experience working in the EYFS is essential for this post. The successful candidate will also learn BSL alongside our young person, supported by the Teacher of the Deaf. Alternatively, a candidate with at least a Level 2 BSL qualification would be highly desirable and may be eligible for a pay scale increase reflecting this skill and training.
Working hours are from 08:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility for the right candidate. The position is temporary until 31 July 2027 or until the child leaves the school / dependent on additional funding received to support individual pupil's needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide supported inclusion for a young person in the Reception Class, learning and applying basic British Sign Language.
- Implement Speech and Language interventions, deliver additional support for learning as required, and aid in meeting the contents of an EHCP.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers, the SENCO and the teacher of the Deaf.
- Employ behaviour management strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with children who have a hearing impairment and an ability to learn basic British Sign Language.
- Sound knowledge of the EYFS and experience supporting children requiring additional learning support.
- Understanding and skills to support the implementation of EHCP requirements, including working with parents, carers and the SENCO.
- Effective behaviour management strategies.
- Flexibility and organisational skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
