About the Role
The Independent Living Team is recruiting on behalf of an employer seeking a caring, reliable, and friendly Personal Care Assistant to support a young autistic, non-verbal individual in the local community. The young person enjoys participating in a variety of activities and requires support from someone who can provide encouragement, understanding, and companionship while promoting independence and social engagement.
Activities May Include supporting the young person in:
- Bowling
- Swimming
- Community outings and leisure activities
- Exploring new interests and experiences
As the young person can sometimes feel overwhelmed or frustrated, it is important that the successful candidate can remain calm, patient, and reassuring. The ability to provide gentle support while respecting the individual’s need for time and space is essential.

- Support the young person to access and enjoy community-based activities
- Encourage the development of confidence and social skills
- Promote independence and self-esteem
- Provide a safe, positive, and supportive environment
- Build a trusting and respectful working relationship
About You
- Caring, patient, and understanding
- Honest, reliable, and professional
- Confident supporting autistic individuals or willing to learn
- Able to remain calm in challenging situations
- Committed to promoting independence and inclusion
- A good communicator with a positive attitude
- Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential, as personal qualities and the right approach are highly valued.
