About the Role

We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant / Support Worker to support an 8-year-old autistic girl who is non-verbal and has developmental delays.

She enjoys water and sand play, visiting supermarkets, going for walks, and exploring familiar places. She can find busy environments challenging and may need time and space to build trust and feel comfortable with new people.

The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support, encourage enjoyable activities, and help her develop confidence and independence at her own pace.

Duties May Include

  • Spending one-to-one time with the child
  • Supporting activities she enjoys, including water and sand play
  • Going for walks and visits to local places
  • Supporting access to community activities
  • Following routines and meeting individual needs
  • Providing calm and attentive supervision
  • Supporting communication and independence

Personal Requirements

  • Patient, calm and caring
  • Kind, understanding and reliable
  • Comfortable supporting a non-verbal autistic child
  • Observant and responsive to individual needs
  • Confident supporting community outings
  • Able to work at the child’s pace and follow her lead

Experience supporting autistic children or children with additional needs is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from people with the right attitude, patience and commitment.

Additional Information

A DBS check and references will be required.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young girl enjoy new experiences, build confidence, and make the most of her weekends in a safe and supportive environment.
