About the Job
The Independent Living Team, on behalf of the employer, is seeking a caring and reliable Personal Care Assistant to provide support to a young disabled woman with autism, helping her to live independently and enjoy activities in the local community.
Rate of Pay: £13.45 per hour.
Hours of Work: 10 hours per week, worked flexibly. Preferred working hours: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Exact hours will be agreed directly with the employer at interview.
About the Role
This part‑time Personal Care Assistant role in Warrington involves providing both personal and practical support in the employer’s home and within the community. The role is focused on encouraging independence, confidence, and meaningful daily activities. Experience of supporting autistic individuals is desirable but not essential, as a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally important. The young woman enjoys building LEGO, computer gaming, and history, and values calm, patient, and respectful support. The household has cats, so applicants must be comfortable around animals.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supporting with personal care, primarily prompting with showering and bathing
- Assisting with choosing suitable clothing for daily activities and weather conditions
- Supporting at mealtimes, including meal preparation and cooking
- Assisting with laundry, including washing clothes and bedding
- Supporting with food shopping, both in person and online, including putting groceries away
- Helping with general household tasks and domestic duties
- Escorting to social activities, events, and outings
- Supporting the development of independent living skills, such as using public transport and organising bills and managing payments
Requirements:
- Car owner/driver preferred but not essential. Applicants using their own vehicle for work must have business use insurance.
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
Further Information:
A probationary period will apply. This role is subject to satisfactory references and DBS clearance.
