We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Systemic Family Practitioner to our Systemic Practice hub to cover maternity leave. The intention of the Systemic Hub is to support families to remain together by adopting a systemic family therapy approach. The Systemic Hub supports the embedding of our Systemic Practice model, with a dedicated Systemic Family Practitioner (SFP) being linked to each of the social work teams, residential services with plans to widen the offer further.
As a Systemic Family Practitioner, you will be required to share ideas with workers, offering a systemic lens when talking through dilemmas, with an overall aim of continuing to embed the systemic practice model when it comes to how we think about, talk about and understand families. Some of the ways we do this are:
- One to one reflective conversations with those who are working directly with the family.
- Group or multi-agency reflective spaces – coming together outside of care planning to take some time to think about how we are understanding the family system.
- Joining visits to families where appropriate, modelling approaches and offering a systemic lens.
- Completing Systemic Family practice sessions with families.
- Deliver training in Systemic practice.
The role is open to those with experience of working with and/or in Children’s Services and social care settings and are at intermediate level in Systemic Family Practice. The applicant needs to have a minimum qualification of intermediate level in systemic practice. This post sits within the Safeguarding and QA Unit.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. If you are a permanent WBC employee you will need to apply for this fixed term position as an internal secondment opportunity and will need to discuss this with your current line manager prior to applying. DBS clearance is required.
