Chaigeley School is a Non-maintained Special School that caters for young people between the ages of 8 and 16 who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. We provide a specialist environment where all pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Key Stage 2&3 Class Teacher to join our dedicated Lower School team. The successful candidate must have a secure understanding of the Key Stage 2&3 curriculum and be capable of delivering high-quality teaching focused on academic attainment and emotional growth for pupils with complex needs.

This role requires the delivery of a creative and highly effective curriculum rooted in nurturing principles. You will teach a wide range of subjects including English, Maths, Science. The position emphasizes emotional growth within a stimulating environment, requiring high expectations for both achievement and behaviour.

You will actively promote the school's ISHARE values: Independence, Self-Regulation, Honesty, Acceptance, Relationships, and Emotional Intelligence.

You are responsible for effective targeted support: utilising summative and formative assessment to differentiate work for pupils who often present with additional needs like ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties. This includes organizing visits and trips to enhance learning experiences. You will be supported by Pupil Support staff, including a key worker dedicated specifically to KS2 and KS3 pupils.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Therefore, the successful applicant will be required to disclose any relevant criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or final warnings. An Enhanced DBS check will be undertaken for the successful candidate. An online check will be carried out for all shortlisted candidates and references may be requested prior to interview.
