The role
We are seeking a caring, experienced and dependable Healthcare Assistant to provide dedicated, person-centred support to a young person with cerebral palsy. The learner requires a significant level of personal and therapeutic assistance to access education, work-related learning and wider college life safely, with dignity and as much independence as possible.
Working closely with teaching staff, the learner’s family, physiotherapists and healthcare professionals, you will provide support with personal care, health needs, mobility, positioning, communication and emotional wellbeing. You may also help deliver an agreed daily physiotherapy programme following appropriate training and professional guidance, prepare the learner’s accessible workstation, specialist equipment and adapted resources, and provide personal assistance during classroom, community and workplace learning.
You will have experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEND and/or complex needs, including safely and respectfully providing personal care. A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent in English and maths, and a First Aid at Work certificate or willingness to work towards one are required.
Experience in specialist post-16 education or healthcare, knowledge of EHCPs and a full clean manual driving licence are desirable.
Most importantly, you will be compassionate, patient, reliable and calm under pressure, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and person-centred support. You must be willing to complete all mandatory and role-specific training.

Hours:37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm
