Warrington Borough Council is a leading authority within the North West. The Facilities Cleaning business delivers a service to over 120 client buildings, operating 7 days a week at some locations and employing over 300 staff. The service operates mainly Monday to Friday 7am to 9.30pm, plus weekends subject to contracts and business demands.

An opportunity has arisen for the position of Area Cleaning Supervisor within the Facilities Cleaning team. This is a crucial role within a dynamic customer-focused business in which you will be responsible for direct management of the day-to-day delivery of the cleaning service within a group of buildings including civic buildings, schools (both maintained and academy), and private enterprise ensuring that cleaning is carried out in accordance with the commercial contract, defined cleaning specification, and industry best practice standards.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, having gained relevant industry experience. As a driven and flexible character, you will be required to supervise and deploy cleaning staff, arrange cover for cleaning staff during periods of absence, process monthly pay timesheets, materials and equipment orders, carry out on-site training and performance reviews, conduct quality audits on service delivery standards, and proactively engage with client representatives, Business Managers, and Heads of Establishments.

Working 30 hours Monday to Friday on a shift rota basis between the hours of 7am and 6pm, there are occasions when you will need to work outside of these hours in the evenings and possible weekends to meet business needs. You will be required to work additional hours as directed by the organisation during the week and weekend to suit business needs and demands. The role, whilst operating from a site-based office, is mobile across the borough attending multiple sites per day as per business demands and planned events. You will work closely with the wider Fleet and Facilities Services team.

What's needed?

  • Flexibility with hours of delivery to accommodate business needs and operational hours
  • Relevant experience in a related sector
  • Knowledge of relevant industry best practice standards
  • BICS or City and Guilds or similar recognised industry training
  • A current UK category B driving licence is required and use of own vehicle with business use insurance for which an essential car allowance and mileage reimbursement is paid
  • Computer literate with a high standard of numeracy, literacy, and verbal skills
  • Enhanced DBS will be required
  • Ability to develop and gain new experience
  • Ability and willingness to undertake training as directed by the organisation, some of which could require overnight stays and personal commitment to achieve
  • A period of opportunity for completion of agreed and funded training can be provided for the right candidate if all essential criteria in the Person Specification is not initially met.
