With Warrington's economic success, regeneration, and growth we are seeking an enthusiastic person to work as a Street Lighting Electrician within the council's Highway Asset Maintenance and Street Works Team. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic with an ability to work to a high professional standard, have a strong background in the industry and have an ability to organise workloads around tight deadlines.
Warrington Borough Council is one of the leading authorities in the North West and are keen to recruit staff that are committed to developing its services and improve the delivery to the public and its partners. We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic person with a flexible approach to work within the Highway Asset Maintenance Section. Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) are essential.
It would also be desirable if the candidate had:
- A clean full HGV driving licence (C1+E)
- A current Drivers Qualification card (CPC), although HGV training may be provided for the right candidate (HGV training must be completed within 3 months of taking up the post).
The ability to work flexibly covering a variety of tasks with a practical approach and be prepared to undertake additional hours when required. Applicants must be physically fit to complete all duties, be able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions, have excellent customer care skills and be willing to undertake any necessary training to fully complete the role and be available to be on the out of hours call out rota. The hours of work are 37 per week to suit the needs of the service.
What's needed?
- Applicants should have City & Guilds Part 2 or equivalent in Electrical Installation works.
- City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing desirable.
- Able to work at heights of up to 12 metres in MEWP.
- 18th Edition wiring regulations is desirable.
- Certification for Electrical testing.
- HEA Competency Portfolio.
- Good all round street lighting knowledge and experience of street lighting installations and associated maintenance would be desirable.
- Manual work involving an element of hand excavation.
