Grappenhall Heys is an outstanding and popular Community Primary School, situated in South Warrington. We have wonderful well-motivated pupils, an enthusiastic and committed staff and Governing Body, inspirational senior leaders, supportive parents and strong links with the community.

The school is seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic teaching assistant who can provide support for our youngest pupils, the class teacher and the school, to encourage pupils to become independent learners, to ensure their safety and welfare and support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic teaching assistants who:

  • can work alongside teachers and other support staff to support and develop the literacy and numeracy skills of pupils
  • have an ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with the pupils, parents and staff
  • have experience of working with children with specific needs
  • are able to work as part of a team
  • demonstrate strong behaviour management skills in line with school policy
  • conform to school policies and procedures – safeguarding, welfare, health and safety and data protection
  • undergo any training required in order to perform relevant duties efficiently
  • support the teaching of a curriculum that allows pupils to achieve and make progress
  • be a patient and understanding champion of vulnerable pupils

The post also includes pastoral care duties including lunchtime pupil support.
