What you'll do?
- Prepare and check aseptic products to ensure patient safety.
- Contribute to the smooth running of our technical services, maintaining compliance with GMP standards.
- Play a key role in delivering life-saving treatments to our patients at WHH.

What will you be responsible for?
- The post-holder will, on a day to day basis, organize technical services and staff in the aseptic unit, ensuring the effective delivery of the service to internal wards and departments, in accordance with all national and regional guidelines.
- Manage the stock control systems in the aseptic unit.
- The post holder will participate in the training and development of junior members of staff.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure that technical staff are aware of and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and the requirements of regional guidelines; this includes ensuring that the relevant validation tests are performed.
- Manage the human resource needs of support workers in the aseptic unit, undertaking their appraisal and personal development planning, monitoring sickness and performing return to work interviews.
- Work independently in line with clearly defined procedures/protocols and supervise others performing those tasks.
- Write and review standard operating procedures (SOPs) and submit them to the Aseptic Services Manager and Lead Technician for approval in a timely fashion.
- Develop and amend worksheets and labels ensuring they are authorised prior to use.
Person Specification
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services/BTEC or Science manufacturing Technician (SMT), Final Accuracy Checking Certificate in Technical Services.
- Registration: Professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, or relevant registration.
- Experience: Experience of working in an NHS hospital pharmacy setting. Have attended the Aseptic Preparation & Dispensing of Medicines (APDM) Course or equivalent. Training of Aseptic services staff.
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
