We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated enthusiastic Chef within our Catering Department at Halton Hospital. The successful candidate should have experience in a large scale catering environment and excellent communication skills. The ability to work to a high standard is essential. Enthusiasm and flexibility are required, and a good knowledge of food hygiene is essential.
Main duties of the job:
- You would be part of a small friendly catering team.
- We pride ourselves on providing a high-quality service to the staff, patients, and visitors.
- The postholder will be responsible for carrying out the preparation of meals for patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring that high standards of quality and food safety are maintained.
- To carry out all duties in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995 and any subsequent Food safety Legislation.
- Reporting any equipment faults or health and safety issues to the Manager as and when they may arise.
- To adhere to Trust Policies.

Person Specification:
- Experience working in a catering environment.
- Experience in large scale catering.
- Good general education, Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
- Must have an NVQ Level 2 Catering.
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Safety Certificate.
- Have an NVQ Level 3 or working towards one.
- City and Guilds 706/1 or 706/2.
Skill, knowledge and competencies:
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate meal service, able to work as a team member.
- Excellent customer care skills.
- Good knowledge of food safety legislation and the concept of HACCP.
Specific role requirements:
- Due to the nature of the role must be physically fit.
- Flexible, reliable, and an effective communicator.
- Must have good computer skills.
