As Planning Manager you will proactively lead and manage the Local Planning Team, delivering a transport plan that effectively deploys the company’s transport assets. This plan should deliver compliance with relevant legislation, company procedures, meet customer requirements and generate profit for the business.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00-06.00
Salary: £40,030 per annum
Key Duties of a Planning Manager:
- Manage the daily Transport plan by ensuring Team Leaders carry out daily duties.
- Daily analysis of the P&L for each of their team’s planning boards.
- Regular monitoring of Empty Legs information.
- Regular monitoring of ISOTRAK's group analysis screen for their team resource pool.
- Monitoring status boards for the national fleet analysing booked, planned and completed jobs.
- Liaising with Team Leaders to ensure data requirements for GTS are complete.
- Advise on any remedial action if data is missing.
- Gathering all relevant information on outstanding work in allocated traffic areas and communicate ‘state of play’ during conference calls.
- Working alongside Team Leaders to assist where possible all traffic areas that have work outstanding.
- Liaising with Transport Managers via conference call to ensure DOT and other issues are monitored, with remedial action put into place should it be needed.
- Briefing planning teams with all relevant information from UK Transport conference calls.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the planning team and individual planners by liaising with Team Leaders in relation to WTD, time lapse reports and restricted parking.
- Analysing all WTD information for the team’s resource pool.
- Discussing all excess hours with individual planners and inform Operations of all intended actions.
- Ensuring that the agency/casual tracker is up to date with any manpower used for the previous shift.
- Controlling the management of absence and holidays for the team.
- Ensuring critical information is flowing by updating the intranet/notice-boards.
- Ensuring that all training needs are met for the planners and the Team Leaders (including inductions, re-training, GTS, ISOTRAK).
- Delivering improved organisation capability through the Appraisal and 1-1 process.
Qualifications:
- Previous planning experience.
- Previous experience leading, motivating and managing a team.
- Qualification in Key Compliance areas WTD & EU Drivers Hours.
- Expert knowledge in GTS and ISOTRAK applications is advantageous.
- IT Literate including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- CPC National Qualification is desirable.
- Working knowledge of WTD and EU Drivers Hours.
- Nationally recognised Health & Safety Accreditation.
- Demonstrable Planning and problem-solving skills.
