The Broadcast Sound Operator is essential in delivering top‑quality audio for live sports broadcasts across WBD Sports. Working in cutting‑edge facilities such as Studios, Galleries, Sound Control rooms, Commentary Booths, and Multi‑Function Rooms, the Operator handles all aspects of audio production, from setup and mixing to final recording and delivery. The primary goal is to ensure the highest quality audio for global sporting events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing the gallery team, commentators, and presenters with the necessary communications for broadcast.
  • Ensuring audio is mixed and recorded to the highest standards.
  • Working across various audio disciplines, supporting sound guarantees on live events.
  • Collaborating with Audio Operators for digital and linear channels.
  • Assisting talent and guests on the studio floor by preparing microphones and talkback systems for broadcast.
  • Managing the activation, adjustment, monitoring, and recording of multiple sound sources during live events and production audio requirements.
  • Collaborating with local and international production teams to ensure audio guidelines are followed.
  • Providing clear notes and documentation and daily reports to other operators and the wider production team.
  • Logging and tagging all audio for each live production to support future edits, clearances, and rights agreements.
  • Ensuring high‑quality audio routing, mixing, and monitoring of multiple audio sources.
  • Setting up and testing equipment promptly, ensuring all required content is in place and levels are checked.
  • Acting as a point of contact for upcoming productions and live broadcast days.
  • Supporting upgrades and testing of audio and corporate systems to ensure equipment functions to the desired standard.
  • Contributing to training plans for staff and freelancer training as needed.
  • Working with the bookings and facility management teams to ensure efficient use of technical and human resources.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Working experience of both remote and studio audio broadcast setups.
  • Proven experience managing multiple sound inputs from various locations simultaneously.
  • In‑depth knowledge of audio principles and technologies.
  • A good ear for audio processing and the ability to identify and address audio quality issues.
  • Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills for technical challenges and recording issues.
  • Proficiency in industry‑standard routing systems and audio editing software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain strong relationships with production teams and clients.
  • Self‑motivated and results‑oriented with the ability to manage workload effectively and independently.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, adaptable to working with diverse personalities and levels of authority.
  • Attention to detail and focus on work tasks.
  • A passion for audio and a keen interest in sports.
