The Firm

Our client is one of the UK's leading accountancy and business advisory firms, known for advising ambitious, entrepreneurial and high-growth businesses as much as the largest corporates. Its Advisory practice spans strategy, operations, technology and risk, and has built a strong reputation for combining technical depth with genuinely commercial, relationship-led delivery - regularly involved in some of the market's most interesting deals and business transformations.

The Opportunity

The firm's Model Build team works directly with clients - both independently and alongside colleagues across the wider business - building bespoke financial and operational models that support M&A transactions, debt refinancing, operational restructuring, and ongoing management forecasting.

As Manager, you'll take day-to-day ownership of model build engagements: leading the design and build of complex, bespoke models (developed primarily in Excel), managing multiple projects concurrently across a diverse range of sectors, and acting as a key client contact alongside more senior team members. You'll also oversee and coach junior team members, reviewing their work to embed modelling best practice across the team.

There's a genuine growth angle too - the firm is actively investing in Data Visualisation capability, with structured training provided in Power Query and Power BI, giving this role a clear route into dashboard-led reporting and data analytics alongside core modelling work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a day-to-day client contact, supporting senior team members in managing relationships
  • Lead and support delivery of financial and operational model build engagements across a variety of sectors
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering to agreed timelines and quality standards
  • Take ownership of the design and build of complex financial models
  • Oversee and review junior team members' work, providing guidance and ensuring best practice is followed
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights and present findings to clients where required
  • Provide value-adding recommendations on client forecasting, planning and decision-making
  • Support the training and development of junior colleagues in modelling technique and approach
  • Contribute to proposals, scoping and pitch materials where required
  • Apply and promote financial modelling best practice — structured design, auditability and transparency — across all deliverables

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a model build-focused role, ideally within advisory, transactions or consulting
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, with a track record of building complex, bespoke models
  • Exposure to Power BI, Power Query, SQL, VBA or Python advantageous, though not essential
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to structure and solve ambiguous modelling challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain complex modelling concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven experience managing stakeholders and leading engagements or workstreams
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
