Having successfully established high-performing teams across Transaction Services, M&A Advisory and Debt Advisory, they are now looking to appoint a Head of Deals Tax to build and lead a dedicated Deals Tax practice.
This is a genuine opportunity to create a service line from the ground up, working alongside an experienced leadership team with significant investment behind the business.
You'll have the autonomy to shape the team's strategy, develop the service offering, recruit your own team and become the go-to tax advisor on corporate transactions.
If you're a Big 4 Deals/Transaction Tax Senior Manager looking for your first leadership role, this is a rare opportunity to step into a Head of function position with a clear route to Director/Partner.
The Opportunity
As Head of Deals Tax, you will establish and lead the firm's national Deals Tax capability, partnering closely with Transaction Services, M&A Advisory and Debt Advisory teams on a wide range of buy-side and sell-side transactions.
Working predominantly with private equity investors, portfolio companies and mid-market corporate clients, you will provide commercially focused tax advice throughout the deal lifecycle while helping shape one of the fastest-growing Corporate Finance platforms in the UK.
This is a highly entrepreneurial position where you'll play a key role in developing both the practice and the wider business.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the firm's Deals Tax practice from inception.
- Deliver buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence across UK and international transactions.
- Advise private equity funds, portfolio companies and mid-market corporates on acquisitions, disposals and investments.
- Identify key tax risks, opportunities and structuring considerations throughout transactions.
- Work closely with the Transaction Services, M&A and Debt Advisory teams to provide an integrated deal offering.
- Support clients through competitive auction processes and bilateral transactions.
- Develop relationships with private equity houses, corporate clients, lawyers and other professional advisers.
- Recruit, mentor and develop a high-performing Deals Tax team.
- Drive business development activities and help win new mandates.
- Influence the strategic growth of the wider Corporate Finance business.
- Establish processes, methodologies and best practice across the new service line.
About You
We're looking for an ambitious Deals Tax professional who wants the opportunity to build something rather than inherit an established team.
You'll likely have
- ACA, CTA and/or equivalent professional qualification.
- Currently operating at Senior Manager level within a Big 4 Deals/Transaction Tax team (or equivalent leading mid-market firm).
- Strong experience delivering tax due diligence on private equity and corporate transactions.
- Extensive exposure to buy-side and sell-side projects across the mid-market.
- Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to advise clients in fast-paced deal environments.
- A collaborative approach with experience working alongside Transaction Services and Corporate Finance teams.
- Leadership potential with the ambition to build and grow a successful team.
- Strong relationship-building and business development skills.
Why Join?
- A genuine opportunity to build and lead a new Deals Tax practice.
- Significant autonomy to shape the strategy, service offering and future growth of the team.
- Backed by a fast-growing, private equity-backed professional services firm.
- Work alongside an experienced Corporate Finance leadership team.
- Exposure to high-quality private equity and mid-market transactions across the UK.
- Opportunity to recruit and develop your own team.
