For over 13 years, our client has been a trusted leader in justice, policing, and public safety. They publish independent, robust research on crime and justice reform and solve complex problems for clients in policing, criminal justice, and government. The team consists of subject matter experts, many with direct experience in the sectors served, united by a mission to make communities safer.

We’re seeking a Fractional Chief Financial Officer to elevate our finance function as we grow. This part-time role (2-3 days/week) is perfect for an experienced finance leader looking for flexibility while driving strategic impact. Working closely with our CEO and Executive Team, you’ll shape our financial strategy, enhance forecasting, and strengthen commercial decision-making. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a commercial mindset, either transitioning to reduced hours or thriving in a portfolio/fractional leadership capacity. You’ll be in our London office 2 days/week, collaborating with a dynamic team to support our mission.

  • Lead and oversee the finance function, managing a senior management accountant and part-time support.
  • Implement recommendations from a recent external review to enhance financial controls and commercial thinking.
  • Develop a 3-year financial forecast and strategy with the CEO and Executive Directors.
  • Oversee monthly reporting, budgeting, quarterly re-forecasting, cash flow, and audits.
  • Ensure legal compliance across all financial operations.
  • Provide commercial insights and negotiate fees based on rates and hours.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years post-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience leading a finance function in a service-based industry.
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with expertise in financial forecasting, reporting, and fee negotiations.
  • Exceptional communicator, able to translate financial concepts for non-finance colleagues.

Bonus: Performance-based bonus opportunity.

Leave: 25 days annual leave pro rata (10-15 days) + Christmas office closure.
