Our client is a leading professional services firm that works with ambitious, high-growth businesses across the UK. As part of a continued investment in audit quality, technology, and innovation, they are seeking an experienced Audit Quality - Tools Manager to join their expanding Audit Quality team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development, management, and enhancement of audit methodologies, intellectual resources, and technology solutions that support audit delivery across the firm. The position offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders, innovative audit tools, and collaboration with both UK and international teams.

The Role

As a Tools Manager within the Audit Quality function, you will help oversee the firm's audit-related intellectual resources and key audit tools, including bespoke software solutions. You will manage projects, support continuous improvement initiatives, and supervise a team of professionals responsible for maintaining and enhancing audit tools and resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Audit Quality and the wider audit practice
  • Managing and developing a team of executives with varying levels of experience
  • Leading tools-related projects, including assurance library development and software testing initiatives
  • Overseeing support functions for audit tools, identifying trends, maintaining knowledge bases, and ensuring quality control
  • Performing control activities as part of the firm's System of Quality Management
  • Acting as a key liaison between Audit Quality and IT teams
  • Developing and maintaining guidance and documentation relating to audit tools
  • Designing and delivering training programmes on audit tools and resources
  • Supporting wider team, departmental, and firm-wide initiatives
  • Managing ad hoc projects and continuous improvement activities

About You

We’re looking for a motivated and ambitious individual with a passion for both audit quality and technology. You will ideally have:

  • A university degree ACA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification (or be part-qualified)
  • Experience within audit, audit methodology, audit quality, or a related environment
  • Strong project management and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • A keen interest in technology and process improvement
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring team members would be advantageous
