Job Description

Heygates is a successful Northamptonshire family business with its head office based in Bugbrooke. Employing over 1,400 people across its operations, the Group is recognised as one of the UK's leading flour milling businesses and is now seeking an experienced Accountant to join its established finance team of 15.

Supplying major food manufacturers, supermarket bakeries and independent craft bakers nationwide, Heygates plays an important role in the British food supply chain and has built a reputation for quality, reliability and exceptional customer service.

The Role:

Are you an experienced Accountant with a strong background in producing monthly and management accounts, along with clear and meaningful reporting for senior stakeholders?

Whether you hold an ACA, ACC, CIMA or have built your expertise through hands-on experience, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll work closely with and support the Senior Accountant as part of a friendly, collaborative finance team.

Accountant

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and presenting management accounts
  • Producing the Profit & Loss account for the Group’s largest subsidiary, with turnover of approximately £250m
  • Completing Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Providing financial analysis and insight to support business decision-making
  • Supporting with quarter-end reporting
  • Managing VAT returns and supporting tax compliance
  • Supporting projects, including the implementation of a new fixed asset system
  • Reviewing processes and recommending improvements where appropriate
  • Preparing financial and management reports
  • Coding and processing invoices
  • Approving payment runs
  • Providing systems support and troubleshooting where required
  • Supporting other departments with financial guidance and information
  • Preparing National Statistics reports
