A little bit about our team: You will be working in the finance department of the UK Shared Service centre (involved in multiple group companies), providing support to a variety of group companies and stakeholders. As a Finance Intern within the UK Shared Service Centre, your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful. You will be immersed in the financial operations of a multitude of group companies, offering essential support to a wide range of stakeholders.
Your role: In this role, you will gain hands-on, practical experience working as part of a dynamic and supportive finance team. This unique combination will provide you with a solid foundation in finance principles and their real-world application, accelerating your professional development in the field.
Here you’ll get to: You will assist the management accounts team with month end work, such as:
- The preparation of bank reconciliations. In order to complete bank reconciliation work, you’ll need to work closely with the accounts payable team to understand all payments made and any refunds received, as well as with the accounts receivable team, to ensure that monies received are matched correctly in our systems.
- Posting journals including accruals and prepayments to ensure that costs and income are recognised correctly, and explaining any variance between actual results and budget/forecast.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure that accruals and prepayments are tracked on a monthly basis.
- Support the Finance Manager in preparation of the departmental spend trackers showing actual spend to date and remaining available spend.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of external reporting requirements.
- Assist in coding intercompany invoices and ensuring that these are processed correctly.
- Ad hoc projects as requested.
You’ll gain experience of working in a SOX-compliant business, gaining an understanding of how controls are key in processes and systems across the finance team. You will be process-driven and proactive in nature, always willing to learn about new areas of the business.
About you: You will have good Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables). You are enthusiastic and keen to contribute to a large team. You will either be completing a finance degree and looking for a placement year role or will have recently completed a finance degree.
This position requires a minimum of 4 days per week in the office. We value in-office collaboration, which is essential for talent development and strong working relationships.
