Warner Music’s EMEA Shared Service Centre is the home to the financial, tax, and administrative functions that provide critical support and best‑in‑class services to our European Recorded Music and Publishing businesses. The Indirect Tax Team sits within our EMEA Shared Services Centre and provides tax compliance across the region for all business lines. As WMG transitions to SAP S/4HANA, the team plays a crucial role in embedding tax processes into new systems and ensuring data integrity and compliance across multiple territories.

Your Role

This role is a key position responsible for helping the Senior Indirect Tax Manager transform the indirect tax compliance function into a Centre of Excellence. You will help to design and implement best‑in‑class compliance processes for all indirect taxes and withholding tax, integrating closely with other functions in the Shared Services Centre, our labels and affiliates and the central Tax Team. You’ll also drive automation, foster cross‑functional collaboration, and ensure tax processes deliver meaningful insight and value to the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership & Team Development: Act as the project leader for key initiatives, effectively collaborating with your own and cross‑functional teams to identify and drive process improvements and embed solutions. Support the professional development of the Tax Analysts by working with the Senior Tax Manager to build capability, accountability, and engagement within the team.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation: Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives across indirect tax operations. Design and test enhancements to tax engines, processes, and controls in partnership with IT and finance operations. Leverage your enthusiasm and experience (or aptitude) for AI to identify and implement new process improvements and find efficiencies in the indirect tax function.
  • Tax Governance & Escalation: Maintain strong internal controls and documentation standards for all tax processes. Recognise when issues require escalation to Group Tax for specialist advice or resolution of technical controversies.
  • Insightful Reporting & Analysis: Lead the development of indirect and withholding tax reports that go beyond system‑generated outputs, offering clear insights, identifying risks or anomalies, and supporting strategic business decision‑making.
  • Cross‑functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Record to Report, Order to Cash, and Accounts Payable teams to ensure tax processes are integrated and optimised for accurate, timely reporting. Collaborate with local finance teams, record labels, and affiliates to understand business changes affecting tax compliance. Coordinate with the Tax Team on complex advisory and controversy matters. Serve as a trusted advisor to non‑tax stakeholders, clearly communicating complex tax issues and promoting tax awareness across the organisation.
  • Indirect Tax Compliance & Process Ownership: Develop and implement efficient, scalable, and where possible, automated compliance processes for VAT, GST, WHT, and other relevant taxes across EMEA in line with SAP S/4HANA deployment. Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of all VAT returns prepared by the EMEA Indirect Tax compliance team including review and / or delegation to other team members, in line with agreed seniority and materiality thresholds.

About You

You have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, tax, or a related field. You bring experience in indirect tax, ideally in a tax compliance function, within a multinational organisation or professional services firm. While 5+ years’ experience is preferred, we are open to ambitious and highly enthusiastic individuals ready to take a step up. You have a strong understanding of indirect and withholding tax regulations in key EMEA territories (e.g., UK, France, Italy, Ireland, Nordics, South Africa, CEE). You have experience with SAP S/4HANA and tax engines such as ONESOURCE. You’re articulate, with the ability to clearly explain complex tax issues to non‑experts. You’re proactive, solutions‑focused, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. You’re experienced in process design, improvement, and testing, and able to think both strategically and operationally. You have a growth mindset and are passionate about continuous improvement, for yourself, the team and the business. You have strong reconciliation and reporting skills, and a detail‑oriented mindset. Experience working in a shared service environment or cross‑functional project teams.

We’d Love It If You Also Had

  • Fluency in English and proficiency in an additional European language (e.g., French, German, Italian, Spanish).
  • Experience in creating and managing compliance calendars and documentation of processes for indirect taxes.
  • Familiarity with XML log analysis and creating test scripts.
  • Knowledge of GAAP‑to‑tax adjustments and journal entries.
