Specialist, English Media Transcription (Theatrical & Episodic Content)

Your New Role

The English Transcriber Specialist supports the creation of English scripting and transcription deliverables for entertainment content, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery within WBD's localization lifecycle. The role applies foundational knowledge of scripting, accessibility materials, and entertainment media content while working within established processes, tools, and specifications. The English Transcriber Specialist is part of a collaborative team supporting global localization and accessibility initiatives across film, television, streaming, and other entertainment media content.

Key Responsibilities

• Create English transcription and scripting deliverables, including Spotting Lists, English Dialogue Lists, Closed Captions (CCAP), English SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing), and English Templates.
• Utilize WBD-approved in-house tools to transcribe episodic, catalog, and internally approved content.
• Listen attentively to audio recordings and video content to accurately transcribe spoken dialogue, narration, and relevant audio cues.
• Capture required scripted events such as on-screen text, speaker identification, on- and off-screen indicators, scene descriptions where applicable, and basic annotation including sensitive events.
• Perform self-review and proofreading to ensure transcripts are free of grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.
• Research names, terminology, locations, and references using approved sources; apply WBD formatting standards and templates consistently.
• Coordinate assigned workload; meet established deadlines; maintain required quality standards for accuracy and speed.

Qualifications & Experience

• Hands-on experience in transcription, captioning, scripting, accessibility, timed text, or a related field within the entertainment media, broadcast, streaming, or post-production industry.
• Experience using transcription, captioning, or subtitling software is required.
• Strong command of written English, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage.
• Excellent listening skills to accurately transcribe spoken content.
• Attention to detail, ability to follow established specifications and workflows, solid formatting and proofreading skills.
• Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools.

Not Required but preferred experience: Typing speed of 60-75 words per minute is preferred.
