The Grounds Manager is responsible for the planning, maintenance and presentation of all outdoor spaces of the hotel grounds to ensure a safe, attractive and welcoming environment for guests and teams. The role leads grounds operations across all seasons, supporting guest satisfaction, brand standards and biodiversity objectives. The Grounds Manager will also work closely with the Golf Manager and Head Greenkeeper to support the ongoing maintenance, presentation, and safety of the golf course and wider estate.
Responsibilities
- Grounds Management: Lead day‑to‑day grounds operations to deliver high standards of presentation, safety and guest satisfaction. Plan and programme year‑round grounds activity using appropriate tools, machinery and systems. Ensure brand standards, policies and legal requirements are met and accurately recorded. Take accountability for health and safety within the grounds team.
- Team Leadership: Lead, manage and develop grounds team members and external contractors as required. Recruit and develop team capability to support biodiversity, sustainability and long‑term growth of hotel grounds.
- Budget Management: Manage grounds budgets to ensure cost‑effective delivery while maintaining safety and presentation standards. Work with the Property Manager to forecast in‑year spend and support utility and water usage control across the hotel.
- Supplier Management: Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors, ensuring quality delivery, value for money and compliance with agreed standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Support the Property Manager to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements. Ensure all external areas, walkways and access routes are safe, well‑maintained and appropriately signed where required.
- Sustainability and Utility Initiatives: Implement sustainable grounds practices to reduce environmental impact. Support delivery of water and utility usage targets through practical initiatives and engagement. Contribute to hotel green team activity.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of grounds activity, inspections and maintenance. Provide regular updates and reports to the Property Manager and General Manager. Use systems, tools and machinery effectively, reporting defects or issues promptly.
