Location: Stone, Staffs – Applicants must be within a 1‑hour commute.

Employment Type: Full‑time, permanent

Salary: Up to ÂŁ125k plus profit share, depending on experience

The Opportunity

The Head of Operations (Director Designate) will be part of a committed team and play a key role in shaping future policy and direction at Tecni‑Form. The position will report to the Managing Director and is anticipated to lead to a board appointment.

Purpose of the Job

The successful candidate will serve as an aspirational role model, guiding and developing competent managers, identifying rising talent, and instilling high‑quality management practices across operational teams.

Key Strategic Manufacturing Responsibilities

  • Direct Business Operations including Production, IT, Quality, HSE, HR, and Customer Service/Planning.
  • Oversee the full Operations function across multiple lines and shifts.
  • Ensure output, quality, and efficiency targets are consistently achieved or exceeded.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, JIT, and continuous improvement initiatives, including robotics, advanced manufacturing techniques, and energy resource management.
  • Coordinate planning with supply chain, logistics, and engineering teams.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards.
  • Support new product introductions, processes, and pre‑production builds.
  • Set high health and safety standards, working closely with HSE teams to reduce risk.
  • Lead cost‑reduction initiatives and productivity improvements.
  • Coach, develop, and motivate production management and teams.
  • Direct quality, maintenance, and engineering functions for seamless operations and rapid resolution of downtime or quality issues.
  • Support cross‑functional problem solving, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

Key Commercial Responsibilities

  • Maintain close relationships with major customers and represent the company at meetings.
  • Collaborate with finance, technical, and commercial teams to achieve profit performance.
  • Ensure delivery on capital expenditure programmes.
  • Maintain close working relationships with major suppliers, negotiating key contracts.
  • Work with HR and HS contractors to ensure safe working conditions and staff relations.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous head or director level role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical and commercial experience.
  • Results‑driven with a proven track record of operational management excellence and culture change.
  • Comfortable leading and mentoring others.
  • Proactive, curious and solution‑oriented.
  • Strong business acumen and desire to be involved in the company’s strategy and growth.
