Your New Role…

The Studio Sets & Lighting Technician is a key member of the Studio Operations Team at Warner Bros. Discovery, working across two state-of-the-art production facilities in West London. These facilities include four green screen studios and three multifunctional spaces.

The role supports the day-to-day setup and maintenance of the studio sets, store and lighting kit ensuring productions are supported and able to deliver the shows smoothly and safely. You will oversee set logistics, studio safety, set maintenance and kit storage. You will lead studio turnaround ensuring the creative vision of the Production teams are achieved through effective use of furniture, props, and lighting.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Deliver all work to the highest standards, following company and departmental procedures.
  • Plan and execute the construction, setup, and maintenance of studio sets, considering time, budget, and safety constraints.
  • Collaborate with the resource bookings team to ensure appropriate support and resources are allocated to each project.
  • Lead freelance scenic operators and craft specialists in set builds, strikes, and storage activities.
  • Build strong working relationships with Designers, Technical Managers, Lighting Teams, and other operational departments.
  • Promote and enforce all Health & Safety policies across studio environments.
  • Assist in producing Work Method Statements and Risk Assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Manage the safe and efficient storage of scenery, props, drapes, and other production items across WBD Studios and external locations.
  • Coordinate the loading/unloading and safe transport of set and prop items.
  • Handle all set and prop materials with care, escalating any production issues promptly.
  • Support the studio lighting team with rigging and de-rigging and testing of lighting equipment as needed.
  • Maintain tidy and well-organized studio floors and storage areas.
  • Liaise with Facilities Management regarding site maintenance and operational issues.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Proven experience overseeing scenic operations in a studio or entertainment venue.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise the safe delivery of production resources, with a focus on set and strike activities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to respond calmly and professionally to production requests.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the initiative to manage workloads independently.
  • Basic camera and lighting training will be provided to enhance your understanding of studio systems and technology.
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety management and relevant legislation, including:
    • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA)
    • Risk Assessments
    • COSHH
    • Working at Height
    • Electricity at Work
    • Noise and Manual Handling regulations

Onsite Working – This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work.
