Your New Role…

We are looking for a Senior Editor to join our Factcheck Team. This role is a critical part of CNN’s editorial oversight process, ensuring that our most important stories meet the highest standards of accuracy.

Your Role Accountabilities…

1. Network-wide script and story approval, including material with sensitive and controversial content.
2. Ensuring every story meets high standards of accuracy, quality, fairness, and balance, while minimizing risks of defamation, libel, and copyright infringement.
3. Approving difficult and complex stories for air and publication, including investigative reports and long-form documentaries.
4. Approving sources, including anonymous sources.
5. Ensuring stories and editorial material are in a publishable state and meet network output needs.
6. Acting as a key liaison with CNN’s Standards and Practices and Legal departments, including judging when to involve them.
7. Managing a specialist coverage area, specifically Russian affairs.
8. Guiding CNN’s coverage of Russian affairs.
9. Contributing explanatory or analytical content in your specialist area for digital platforms, in written and video formats, and appearing on air as a specialist analyst if needed.

Qualifications & Experience…

1. Proven experience as a field reporter or producer, with senior editorial responsibility for digital stories, scripts, or similar.
2. Strong attention to detail to catch errors others might miss.
3. Ability to make swift, sound editorial decisions.
4. Understanding of maintaining CNN’s reputation for accuracy and fairness.
5. Experience in multiplatform journalism and awareness of industry changes.
6. Extensive knowledge of your specialist subject, with a substantial portfolio of written or on-air work.

Hybrid work model: combining remote and in-office work, subject to company policy and agreement with your Line Manager. Changes may occur based on business needs.
