Your New Role...

As Assistant Lead Plumber, you’ll be part of the driving force keeping WBSL running smoothly; maintaining, modifying, and installing the plumbing systems that keep this iconic site operating at its best.

You’ll work closely with the Lead Plumber, Maintenance Manager and Facilities Administrators, gaining full oversight of every job from start to finish. Your influence will help ensure that our premises stay safe and are maintained to the highest standard. You’ll help organise workflows, coach team members, resolve issues on the ground and keep productivity sharp.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Plan, organise and carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Write and deliver risk assessments and method statements.
  • Monitor H&S compliance, such as correct PPE being worn, as per the H&S at Work Act and WBSL H&S Policy.
  • Operating and maintaining mechanical systems via the BMS.
  • Supervise, instruct as well as be able to carry out small installation works and modifications to existing systems. This includes dishwashers, washing machines and/or any other asset installation required.
  • React to all emergencies with a view to implementing a permanent fix or a temporary safe fix to reduce downtime, working through an escalation process for a quick resolution.
  • Undertaking general maintenance tasks and survey inspections including areas at height.
  • Standing in for the Lead plumber when necessary and being the primary contact for all plumbing emergency calls, overseeing and managing in-house rotas, holiday requests, sickness cover, time & attendance.

Qualifications & Experiences...

  • Use and maintenance of site plant equipment such as MEWPS.
  • Working knowledge of industrial and commercial systems including HVAC systems.
  • Technologically proficient with good working knowledge of sanitisation and drainage systems.
  • Full working knowledge and adherence to H&S standards.
  • Interpret drawings and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage, and other plumbing-related services.
  • Have a good understanding of the maintenance requirements as well as be able to use all special equipment needed/used on site.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Heating
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Heating (Gas Fired Warm Air Appliances)
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Heating (Gas Fired Water and Central Heating Appliances).
  • Legionella Regulations Awareness
  • Gas Safe registered would be advantageous.
  • Water regulations.
  • CENWAT: Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
  • Trained to use trailers and forklifts
  • Knowledge of the Business Management System (BMS) system.

Working Pattern:

You will be required to work a 40-hour week on a rota shift pattern. You will also be required to work evenings and weekends in line with the operating hours of the studio and the studio tour. There will be a requirement to respond to emergencies in and out of normal working hours. You will be required to work some bank holidays.

Onsite Working - This role is advertised as Onsite, meaning all working hours and days (regardless of shift pattern) will be carried out at the place of work. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement, where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
