Overview
Tier 2 – Support Engineer Production at Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). The role focuses on support of live productions for TNT Sports and Discovery/Eurosport, including sports such as football, cricket, rugby and cycling. The position is part of the Broadcast engineering team providing engineering tier 2 (old tier1) support for studios, production and post-production, collaborating with Tier 1 teams in Chiswick and Paris, and with Tier 2 and Tier 3 (COE) teams to resolve issues and improve broadcast platforms. Based in Chiswick Park, London, with shift-based patterns including weekends and occasional nights; some work at Stockley Park may be required.
The ideal candidate is an organized, skilled Production Support Engineer who represents the best of our Broadcasting Profession.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of all engineering requirements alongside other engineering teams.
- Support production markets in Stockley Park and the Nordic regions remotely and in the apparatus room.
- Work with Production to ensure the smooth running of live events.
- Execute ticketing through to resolution, carry out repairs and maintenance.
- Contribute to team projects and assist the Projects team with large-scale work.
- Update shared technical documentation and maintain effective communication.
- Assist Management and Lead Broadcast Engineers as required.
- Respond to stakeholders in a positive, friendly, proactive manner.
- Follow health and safety culture with relevant maintenance and safe operating practices.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of the production engineering environment and the broadcast chain.
- Outstanding troubleshooting skills and ability to fault find from first principles.
- Calm under pressure in high-stakes broadcast production environments.
- Extensive broadcast technical background (IP video 2110, AES67, NMOS, UHD/HD, HDR/SDR, 5.1 & Dolby Atmos, Graphics, VR/AR, replay and codecs).
- Good understanding of IT technologies (networking, virtualization, storage, cloud services, security).
- Ability to learn and adapt to a constantly changing environment and to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communications and documentation skills; strong teamwork and customer service orientation.
- Appreciation for project management and working knowledge of health and safety best practices.
- Desirable: strong technical background with drive to learn and aptitude (candidates with strong background will be considered).
