Your New Role... The English Transcriber Specialist supports the creation of English scripting and transcription deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery within WBD’s localization lifecycle. The role applies foundational knowledge of scripting and accessibility materials while working within established processes, tools, and specifications.

The English Transcriber Specialist is part of a collaborative team that supports global localization and accessibility initiatives. The role focuses on accurate transcription, consistent formatting, quality execution, and ongoing skill development while adapting to evolving technologies and workflows.

Key Responsibilities...

  • ENGLISH TRANSCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITIES: The English Transcriber Specialist is responsible for creating English transcription and scripting deliverables, including but not limited to Spotting Lists, English Dialogue Lists, Closed Captions (CCAP), English SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing), and English Templates.
  • The role utilizes WBD‑approved in‑house tools to transcribe episodic, catalog, and internally approved content. Responsibilities include attentively listening to audio recordings and video content to accurately transcribe spoken dialogue, narration, and relevant audio cues.
  • The English Transcriber Specialist captures required scripted events such as on‑screen text, speaker identification, on‑ and off‑screen indicators, scene descriptions where applicable, and basic annotation including sensitive events. The role performs self‑review and proofreading to ensure transcripts are free of grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.
  • Additional responsibilities include researching names, terminology, locations, and references using approved sources; applying WBD formatting standards and templates consistently; escalating unclear audio or creative ambiguities to the appropriate reviewer; maintaining confidentiality for sensitive or restricted content.
  • Manage assigned workload; meet established deadlines; maintain required quality standards for accuracy and speed; coordinate with team members on daily assignments; and use internal tracking tools for work queue management.
  • All work must comply with brand standards, departmental needs, and applicable.

LEARNING, DEVELOPMENT, & PROCESS SUPPORT

  • Participates in quality assurance feedback cycles and coaching sessions and applies feedback to improve transcription accuracy, formatting, and efficiency.
  • The role supports testing of new tools or workflows as directed and engages in ongoing training to develop technical competency and scripting knowledge.
  • Provide observations or feedback on tools and processes as appropriate and/or when requested.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • The role participates in team meetings and training sessions.
  • Works with the manager to review individual productivity and quality metrics.
  • Assists with basic reporting or data gathering as needed.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Hands-on experience in transcription, captioning, scripting, accessibility, timed text, or a related field.
  • Experience using transcription, captioning, or subtitling software is required.
  • Exposure to media, broadcast, streaming, or post‑production environments is preferred.
  • The role requires a strong command of written English, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage, as well as excellent listening skills to accurately transcribe spoken content.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to follow established specifications and workflows, solid formatting and proofreading skills, and the ability to research and fact‑check information.
  • Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools is expected, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal peers.
  • The role requires the ability to manage time and priorities in a deadline‑driven environment, adapt to changing production needs, and learn new tools, systems, and technical processes.
  • Typing speed of 60–75 words per minute is preferred.

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
