Warner Bros. Discovery is a leader in non‑theatrical film distribution through its joint venture Filmbankmedia, representing major Hollywood, Bollywood, and independent studios including Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony Pictures, Disney, 20th Century Studios, Universal, Paramount, Lionsgate, and more in over 80 international territories.
The successful applicant will assist both the Head of Legal with all aspects of the company’s legal affairs and the Director of Content and Acquisitions. The core business is acquisition and licensing of audio‑visual entertainment, primarily feature films, from Filmbankmedia’s licensors in non‑theatrical markets worldwide. The legal department works closely with lawyers and personnel from these studios.
Your role accountabilities:
- Support the Head of Legal in contract negotiation, legal research, and day‑to‑day legal enquiries from internal departments, customers, rights owners, and suppliers.
- Support the Director of Content and Acquisitions with legal advice, contract reviews, and document management.
- Manage Filmbankmedia’s business affairs in Latin America, an expanding market, including relationships with partner companies, collective management organisations, and customers.
- Support Sales with legal advice on customer licence agreements, drafting amendments, renewals.
- Contract management and template updates.
- Support Marketing with legal advice on website issues and social media.
- Assist with general office legal issues including company policies.
- Manage external and overseas legal counsel, particularly in Latin America and Germany.
Qualifications & Experience:
- UK qualified solicitor (ideally with first‑time experience; a para‑legal with relevant experience will be considered).
- Experience in drafting and negotiation.
- Working knowledge of intellectual property law, particularly copyright.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and desire to contribute to company activities.
- Enthusiasm, dynamism, and self‑motivation.
- Ability to take on tasks and work independently, seeking guidance where necessary.
- Keen interest in movies and the film industry.
- Familiarity with technology and digital delivery of content.
- Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Business proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese would be very useful.
Hybrid Working:
This role is advertised as a hybrid work model that combines remote and in‑office work following the current company policy and to be agreed with your line manager.
