Your New Role... The transcriber is responsible for fulfilling scripting requirements to ensure technical & literal accuracy, innovation and timely delivery in localization lifecycles of WBD features and high-quality episodic content. They will bring advanced knowledge of drafting, editing, formatting, and finishing scripting/accessibility materials for localization. They will be adept at using digital tools to assist, validate, and review scripting deliverables. They will be highly aware of cultural, creative, and technical contexts in the localization world, especially in regard to scripting. The transcriber is part of a highly functioning team adapting to a fast-changing industry with new technologies. They will be expected to provide periodic feedback on toolsets, contribute ideas for innovation, share thoughts for process improvement, and implement change.
Your Role Accountabilities...
- Creation of English transcription deliverables such as Spotting list, English Dialogue list, CCAP (Closed Captions), English SDH (Subtitles Deaf and Hard of Hearing).
- Utilise in-house tooling to create transcripts for various content, including but not limited to high profile pre-release content, current season, and catalog content.
- Attentively listen to audio recordings and videos, meticulously transcribing spoken content into written form.
- Thoroughly review and proofread transcriptions, ensuring precision and consistency in the written output.
- Ensure comprehensive & accurate capturing of required events in each script deliverable that can include but is not limited to: annotation, on screen text, sensitive event, on/off screen, scene description, etc.
- Annotate key words and phrases to high quality of our translation products.
- Research names, terms, locations, and foreign phrases to ensure accuracy.
- Perform final review of transcription to confirm material is free of grammatical, spelling, formatting, and punctuation errors, ensuring proper positioning as appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with clients or team members to clarify any ambiguities in audio or video content.
- Efficiently manage and prioritize workload, meeting deadlines for the timely submission of completed transcriptions.
- Maintain quality standards for accuracy and speed.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and flexible, and possess a team attitude and willingness to adapt to last-minute changes to programming and industry.
- Coordinates with manager and other staff to complete each day's schedule.
- Utilises production materials with internal tracking tools for work queue management.
- Ensures work output complies with brand standards, department needs, and applicable regulations.
- Handles sensitive and confidential material appropriately & securely.
- Create internal specification documentation for all scripting needs.
Innovation & Development:
- Contribute to new initiatives/workflows that support new business models.
- Engage with new testing technologies to further improve internal scripting process.
- Perform special projects as necessary.
- Continued personal training and development to improve skills and technical ability.
Qualifications & Experience...
- Significant experience in scripting, transcription, captioning, accessibility, timed text or related fields is essential.
- Experience in production, broadcast, media accessibility is a must.
- Experience with transcription software (i.e. captioning, scripting, subtitling) and ability to streamline processes and enhance tools to ensure work is conducted as swiftly and efficiently as possible.
- Excellent command of English is necessary, including understanding of grammar, idiomatic expressions, cultural references, homonyms, proper names, and slang.
- Understanding of scripting requirements in the localization world (e.g., SDH, dialogue list, spotting list, sensitive events list, line count document, etc.).
- Excellent listening skills to accurately transcribe spoken content.
- Ability to identify and correct errors in transcribed documents.
- Ability to research and fact-check information as required.
- Attention to detail is crucial for noting various aspects of transcription including, but not limited to, the spoken word, audio cues, sound effects, and tone that need to be provided to viewers and end clients.
- Strong skills in editing and formatting to ensure each script adheres to WBD spec and captures all necessary events correctly.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external peers.
- Ability to learn software, systems, and technical processes relevant to creative scripting & captioning.
- Advanced typing speed (75wpm or more) would be preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to act independently and responsibly.
The role is primarily Monday-Friday normal office hours, but able to work from time to time at weekends and evenings to deliver our major projects.

Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager.
