Your New Role...

The Senior Specialist, English Audio Description Writer is a senior editorial authority responsible for authoring and overseeing English Audio Description (AD) scripts across a broad range of content types, including feature‑length films, scripted episodic television, unscripted programming, and complex or ad hoc accessibility projects. This role applies advanced narrative judgment and editorial expertise to determine what visual information to describe, when to describe it, and how to balance clarity, tone, pacing, and creative intent. The Senior Audio Description Writer operates with a high degree of autonomy, owns complex deliverables end‑to‑end, and serves as a quality benchmark for Audio Description output across the team.

Key Responsibilities...

  • Author final‑quality English Audio Description scripts across feature‑length, episodic, unscripted, and ad hoc content.
  • Serve as primary editorial owner for assigned titles, making independent decisions regarding narrative prioritization, timing, tone, and descriptive scope.
  • Apply advanced judgment to balance creative intent, accessibility requirements, and technical constraints.
  • Own Audio Description delivery for high‑complexity or high‑visibility titles, including theatrical features.
  • Review Audio Description scripts written by mid‑level or junior writers and provide clear, structured editorial feedback.
  • Ensure consistency of Audio Description approach across features, seasons, or franchises.
  • Collaborate with Accessibility, Localization, and other partners on complex or cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet internal quality standards, platform requirements, and accessibility expectations.
  • Handle sensitive, confidential, and pre‑release content securely and appropriately.

STANDARDS, MENTORSHIP, & DEVELOPMENT

  • Act as a subject‑matter expert and quality benchmark for Audio Description.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of Audio Description standards, guidelines, and workflows.
  • Support onboarding and skill development of less‑experienced writers.
  • Participate in evaluation of new tools or AI‑assisted accessibility workflows.

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • Participate in cross‑functional meetings related to accessibility strategy and delivery.
  • Support audits, training initiatives, and internal documentation efforts.
  • Represent senior Audio Description perspective in planning and review discussions.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Strong professional experience in Audio Description, accessibility authoring, or equivalent scripted media roles.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering Audio Description for feature‑length content.
  • Proven ability to independently deliver final‑quality AD scripts for complex titles.
  • Exceptional written English skills and editorial judgment.
  • Strong understanding of long‑form storytelling and visual narrative.
  • Advanced attention to detail, pacing, and tone.
  • Ability to mentor and review the work of others.
  • Ability to adapt priorities in a fast‑paced production environment.

Nice to have:

  • Accreditation from accessibility training or university.

#GCOHybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager.
