Your New Role
The English Transcriber Specialist supports the creation of English scripting and transcription deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery within WBD’s localization lifecycle. The role applies foundational knowledge of scripting and accessibility materials while working within established processes, tools, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Creating English transcription and scripting deliverables, including Spotting Lists, English Dialogue Lists, Closed Captions (CCAP), English SDH, and English Templates.
Utilizing WBD‑approved in‑house tools to transcribe episodic, catalog, and internally approved content, attentively listening to audio and video to accurately transcribe spoken dialogue, narration, and relevant audio cues.
Capturing required scripted events such as on‑screen text, speaker identification, on‑ and off‑screen indicators, scene descriptions where applicable, and basic annotation including sensitive events; performing self‑review and proofreading to ensure transcripts are free of grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.
Researching names, terminology, locations, and references using approved sources, applying WBD formatting standards and templates consistently, escalating unclear audio or creative ambiguities to the appropriate reviewer, and maintaining confidentiality for sensitive or restricted content.
Managing assigned workload, meeting established deadlines, maintaining required quality standards for accuracy and speed, coordinating with team members on daily assignments, and using internal tracking tools for work queue management.
Ensuring all work complies with brand standards, departmental needs, and applicable regulations.
Learning, Development, & Process Support
Participating in quality assurance feedback cycles and coaching sessions, applying feedback to improve transcription accuracy, formatting, and efficiency.
Supporting testing of new tools or workflows as directed and engaging in ongoing training to develop technical competency and scripting knowledge.
Providing observations or feedback on tools and processes as appropriate and/or when requested.
Administrative
Participating in team meetings and training sessions.
Working with the manager to review individual productivity and quality metrics.
Assisting with basic reporting or data gathering as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Hands‑on experience in transcription, captioning, scripting, accessibility, timed text, or a related field.
Experience using transcription, captioning, or subtitling software is required.
Exposure to media, broadcast, streaming, or post‑production environments is preferred.
Strong command of written English, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage, with excellent listening skills for accurate transcription.
Attention to detail, ability to follow established specifications and workflows, solid formatting and proofreading skills, and ability to research and fact‑check information.
Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools, and ability to collaborate effectively with internal peers.
Ability to manage time and priorities in a deadline‑driven environment, adapt to changing production needs, and learn new tools, systems, and technical processes.
Preferred Experience
Typing speed of 60–75 words per minute.
Hybrid Working
This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, combining remote and in‑office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to applicable laws, WBD and your Line Manager reserve the right to change this working agreement where essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice.
