Data Analyst (Biotechnology) – UK

We’re looking for a hybrid Wet Lab Scientist/Data Analyst with expertise in biotechnology, genetics, or medical biology to join an exciting university spinout in the biotech space. This role will involve a balanced combination of wet lab work (40%) and desk-based data analysis and literature research (60%), supporting this company’s mission of developing life-changing genetic treatments.

Your Role:

• Analyse research data (isoforms) to uncover insights & shape therapeutic strategy.
• Gather & interpret external datasets (scientific literature, clinical trials, industry reports).
• Develop reports, dashboards & visualisations to present findings.
• Ensure data integrity & confidentiality in research.Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments, including cloning, cell culture, gene and protein expression assays.
• Conduct functional assays to evaluate gene expression and therapeutic efficacy.

Essential Qualification:

• PhD or MSc in Medical Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, or related field.
• Strong analytical & literature review skills.
• Experience with public databases (e.g. PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov).
• Excellent communicator with a passion for biotech & knowledge of the genetic therapy landscape.
• Experience in molecular biology and cell-based assays including cloning, gene and protein expression assays and mammalian cell culture.
