Senior / Principal SAS Programmer | Specialist Research Consultancy | UK Remote | Contract

We are partnering with a highly respected specialist healthcare research consultancy seeking an experienced Senior / Principal SAS Programmer for an initial 3-month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity starting in December 2026.

This specialist position focuses on Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO), complex data manipulation and statistical analysis, rather than traditional clinical programming.

Working alongside Statisticians and Psychometricians, you will contribute to complex research projects requiring strong analytical thinking, statistical understanding and independent problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate SAS programs supporting PRO and statistical research.
  • Work with questionnaire datasets, particularly QS, ADQS and ADSL.
  • Perform complex data manipulation and non-standard statistical analyses.
  • Investigate data anomalies and interpret analytical results.
  • Collaborate with Statisticians and Psychometricians on research projects.
  • Independently manage programming deliverables.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on SAS programming experience at Senior / Principal level.
  • Direct experience with Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO) or questionnaire-based research.
  • Strong mathematical, statistical and analytical skills.
  • Experience with QS, ADQS, ADSL or comparable datasets.
  • Ability to interpret statistical results and solve complex data challenges.
  • Confident working autonomously with excellent communication skills.
  • R programming and psychometrics experience would be advantageous.

We are particularly interested in analytically minded programmers who understand the statistics behind their programming, rather than those focused solely on standard clinical programming outputs.
