Overview

To undertake all aspects of painting and decorating work on construction sites, delivering high quality finishes across new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects.

The post holder will contribute to the successful delivery of projects by completing decorating tasks safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.

• Your responsibilities
• As a Painter & Decorator, you’ll be responsible for the following duties:
• Painting and Decorating Works
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling, patching, and applying appropriate primers and sealers.
• Apply a range of internal and external paint systems using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
• Hang wall coverings including lining paper, patterned wallpaper, and specialist finishes.
• Carry out decorative techniques such as staining, varnishing, glossing, and applying protective coatings.
• Repair damaged surfaces, make good after other trades, and ensure areas are ready for finishing.
• Ensure all finishes meet project specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.
• Apply fire-resistant, anti-mould, and specialist coatings where required.
• Site Preparation and Coordination
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and method statements to complete work accurately.
• Measure, cut, and prepare materials to required dimensions.
• Protect surrounding areas, fixtures, and finishes from paint, dust and damage.
• Coordinate with other trades to ensure smooth workflow and avoid delays.
• Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment are used correctly and stored safely.
• Quality and Compliance
• Deliver snag‑free and defect‑free work, ensuring all surfaces are finished to a high standard.
• Follow company quality procedures and contribute tomaintaininghigh workmanship standards.
• Report any issues, defects, or delays to the Site Manager promptly.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and project specifications.
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities
• Workin accordance withall relevant health and safety legislation, including PPE requirements, safe systems of work, and risk assessments.
• Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area, ensuring waste is disposed of correctly.
• Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditionsimmediately.
• Follow Warden Construction’s Codes of Practice and environmental procedures.
• Professional Conduct and Communication
• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors.
• Provide excellent customer service and ensure client satisfaction.
• Follow lawful instructions issued by the line manager.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role asrequired.
• Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience as a painter & decorator in a construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of painting materials, tools, and application techniques.
• Ability to achieve high‑quality finishes consistently.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Good time management and ability to work to deadlines.
• Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
