Overview of the role:
Hours and location: Zero Hour Contract. You would be asked to cover driver shifts as required to cover driver absences. The role is based in Ilkeston. WARD have a number of exciting opportunities for experienced Class 1 & 2 HGV drivers. This would be on a zero-hour contract, and you would be contacted to work as and when required. This may be for last minute ad-hoc shifts covering unexpected absences, holidays, and busy periods. Shift times will average around 12 hours per day and may start from 4:00am. You would usually be required to work day shifts however you may be asked to work the occasional night shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will play a key role in our business, transporting materials from our customers to our processing sites.
- Class 1 drivers may be asked to cover the below driver positions:
- Artic Drivers
- Skip Drivers
- Roll on Roll off Wagon & Drag Drivers
- Tippers
- Roll on Roll off Drivers
- Skip Drivers
- Communicating with the planners and following schedules
- Liaising with customers and clients on site, maintaining good relationships
- Conducting thorough pre-start vehicle checks
- Reporting any vehicle defects
- Following company Safe Operating Procedures
- Taking care of the vehicles
- Completing daily checks and paperwork
Skills and Knowledge Required:
It is essential you have previous experience within a Driving role. The ideal candidate will also have:
- LGV Cat C + E License (Class 1)
- LGV Cat C License (Class 2)
- Current DCPC Card
- Good geographical knowledge
- Tachograph/ digital smart card operation
