We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Security Supervisor to join our dynamic team based in Reading. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our security personnel, ensuring the safety and security of employees, visitors, and assets alongside managing a team. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.

Position: Security Supervisor

Pay rate: £13.80 per hour

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 07:00 – 19:00

Location: Reading, RG2

Must have:

  • Valid SIA licence
  • Proven work experience as a Security Supervisor – min 1 year
  • Robust leadership and supervision skills, adept at inspiring and efficiently managing teams.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver succinct and clear verbal and written reports where necessary.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal presentation.
  • Demonstrate reliability including the ability to deliver high standards of both punctuality and attendance in order to ensure team effectiveness and availability.
  • Profound problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to analyse intricate security issues and devise effective solutions.
  • IT literate- Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment

Duties:

  • Lead and supervise the daily activities of the security team to ensure smooth and effective operations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for incident escalation and report concerns to the Duty Manager.

  • Conduct yourself with professionalism at all times, representing the company and client with integrity.

  • Perform regular foot patrols within designated areas to act as a visible deterrent and safeguard property and assets.

  • Serve as an accessible point of contact for staff and visitors, providing clear information and assistance.

  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, following site protocols.

  • Manage conflicts appropriately and calmly when situations arise.

  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports in line with management expectations.

  • Carry out ID verification checks as required.

  • Maintain awareness of health and safety risks and report any concerns.

  • Communicate effectively across all levels using verbal, written, telephone, and radio communication

  • Provide strong, visible leadership to the on-site security team, promoting a culture of accountability and professionalism.

  • Deliver training to security staff in accordance with company policies and site-specific requirements.

  • Keep site records updated and ensure all paperwork is accurate and compliant.

  • Guarantee site coverage aligns with the site\’s operational requirements at all times.

  • Ensure team members follow company procedures and client instructions precisely.

  • Implement and uphold necessary security protocols to protect people and property on site.

  • Prevent unauthorised access through vigilant monitoring and prompt intervention.

  • Secure all patrol locations from threats such as fire, water damage, theft, or vandalism.

  • Assist in identifying individuals responsible for theft or damage to client property.

  • Verify the identity of all persons entering the premises, including staff, contractors, and visitors.

  • Carry out all client-issued instructions promptly and thoroughly.

  • Provide a swift and coordinated emergency response to all incidents on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and ongoing support to existing team members
  • Complete clear and concise reports, assignment instructions, and site procedures

  • Deliver effective training to new and current security personnel

  • Maintain strong communication with both management and clients

  • Conduct routine foot patrols of the landlord’s premises to ensure safety and security

  • Perform and log regular welfare checks

  • Identify, report, and escalate faults, hazards, and near-miss incidents

  • Manage access control, including key issuance and tracking

  • Assist with reception duties as required

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms and emergency situations
