Are you looking to gain more experience within the security industry? Are you an experienced security officer looking for flexible hours across multiple sites in Birmingham region of the UK and would like the opportunity to apply your skills and experience within the Birmingham Team at Ward?

As a Contract Support Officer you will be responsible for access control to the building, meeting and greeting visitors, contractors and staff. You will be vigilant and the first point of call for any suspicious activity. Your duties will include:

  • Carrying out ID checks
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Providing information to all staff and visitors

The successful candidate will need to have customer service experience and excellent personal presentation, as these sites can be very busy dealing with members of the public. You will also be required to cover sickness, holidays and events when necessary, including last minute cover when contacted. Full flexibility is a must for this role.

Role Requirements:

  • Door Supervisor SIA licence
  • UK Driving licence and use of own vehicle (essential)

Main Duties:

  • Provide the security measures necessary for the safeguarding of the property and people within the premises
  • Cover reception duties if/when required (Front of House experience is desired)
  • Protect the premises from possible unauthorised entry
  • Ensure effective security of the assigned patrol locations
  • Detect those responsible for losses or malicious damage
  • Ensure that all persons wishing to enter the premises are fully identified
  • Provide a robust and efficient emergency response system
  • Offer advice/assistance to staff and visitors
  • Patrol the site and buildings to prevent fire, flood, theft and damage
  • Deter unauthorised activity
  • Search premises and people as instructed
  • Provide access to cleaners and maintenance staff as instructed
  • Provide first aid response
  • Check and validate all staff, visitors and contractors passes
  • Issue and log keys; ensure their security and safe return after use
  • Operate, monitor and respond to installed security and safety systems
  • Maintain a log of occurrences
  • Production of incident reports
  • Direct and assist visitors
  • Lock and unlock offices as necessary
  • Check firefighting equipment
  • Monitor and oversee the effective performance of security equipment
  • Comply with and operate site security instructions and policies
  • Respond as necessary to emergencies, including assistance to the emergency services

Must Haves:

  • Valid SIA licence
  • Valid CCTV licence (desired, not essential)
  • UK Drivers licence
  • Proven work experience as a Security Officer (minimum 1 year)
  • Experience in Front of House/Reception duties
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • High level of self-presentation
  • IT literate - Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
  • Quick thinking and problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude to dealing with people and taking on challenges
