To provide comprehensive support to their appointed lawyer to ensure that they are able to operate at optimum efficiency. This is a varied role which will involve a high level of telephone work and will therefore require excellent communication skills. Good time management and a high degree of self‐management and initiative will also be required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be the main point of contact for clients in the absence of his/her lawyer.
  • To answer the telephone promptly, taking messages and following up where necessary in a pro‐active manner.
  • To build relationships with clients and internal and external contacts on behalf of the team.
  • To attend clients/contacts in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner, in keeping with the Company's standards of client care.
  • To prepare correspondence and legal documents using the case management system and to ensure a high quality of the documents, emails, faxes and photocopies through audio and copy typing.
  • To progress cases within the limit of their ability as requested by their lawyer.
  • To open and close files.
  • General administrative support to the lawyer.
  • To carry out/organise relevant copying.
  • To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain the diary of their lawyer.
  • Support colleagues/the wider team as required.
  • To undertake training of new employees where required.
  • To maintain and update the filing.
  • To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self‐development.
  • To ensure the confidentiality of all the Company's and clients' documentation and information.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Good standard of education (prefer grade C in English and Maths at GCSE).
  • Knowledge of the company's policies and procedures.
  • To know and be able to work within the extent of their remit.
  • Excellent spelling and grammar.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive information.
