We're looking for a Paralegal to join our busy debt team. The role can be based in either our Leeds or Newcastle office. In this role you'll be assisting experienced fee earners working on debt recovery cases.

What will I be doing

  • Assisting Solicitors in relating to the recovery of debts and provide support in negotiating payments and settlements.
  • Working alongside our Solicitor/fee earners, you'll provide support with issuing court proceedings, enforcements, bankruptcy and winding up petitions.
  • On-going file management/administration including updating the case management system.
  • General file administration including file opening/closure, scanning, photocopying and general document management.
  • Assisting others within the team with any other pertinent matters as may be required from time to time.

You'll have

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and good all-round IT skills.
  • The ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines, and manage your time effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • The ability to adapt your style, be proactive, and effectively solve problems.
  • Previous legal/Paralegal work experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Knowledge of debt recovery or credit control procedures (desirable).
