Job Description and Person Specification – General Manager

  • Full time, permanent position. 37.5 hours per week, hours worked over 7 days in agreed shifts
  • £33,920 - £38,000 depending on experience and qualifications
  • Proposed start date mid September pending checks

Ward Freman Community Pool Group are looking for a dedicated individual to take on the role of General Manager in advance of the exciting reopening of the Ward Freman swimming pool, Buntingford.

This is a varied and hands-on role, which not only includes the operational responsibilities of the day to day running of the pool, but also offers the postholder the opportunity to shape and create the community focus of the pool through events and initiatives.

The pool is owned by Ward Freman Community Pool Group CIO, a registered charity governed by a Board of Trustees.

As General Manager you will work closely with the trustees to ensure the continued future of the swimming pool with all profit being reinvested in the pool.

  • Operational planning, including staffing and rotas.
  • Management of staff, responsible for both permanent , casual and volunteer staff members
  • Coordination of self employed contractors.
  • Health and safety checks and risk assessment reporting.
  • Delivering staff training
  • Budget management and P+L reporting
  • Maximising pool usage through creative initiatives and marketing
  • Working closely with the community , educational establishments, businesses & stakeholders

Who are we looking for?

An enthusiastic and proactive leader who is not afraid to think creatively.

This is not just a role with health and safety and staffing responsibility, this is a role you can make your mark on whilst creating an efficient service and community hub for the town.

You would ideally have pool management experience and a valid NPLQ and PPO, (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and Pool Plant Operator) but training will be provided for the right person with other management experience.

Please note a DBS check will be carried out before commencement in post.
