Location: Charleville, Co. Cork
Ward & Burke seek an Electrical Engineer for Water and Wastewater projects. The position is based out of the Charleville office with sites mainly in the Southwest Region of Ireland. The successful candidate will assume a pivotal role in each project, including design, delivery/construction, commissioning, and handover.
Responsibilities:
- Design and specify electrical systems for new and existing wastewater treatment plants/wastewater pumping stations, upgrades and expansions.
- Prepare load schedules, tick sheets, control philosophy, system architecture, electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, commissioning plan and equipment specifications.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process engineers to integrate electrical systems into overall plant design.
- Review electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams to support troubleshooting and system integration.
- Perform cable sizing calculations.
- Create and submit electrical submissions, review and answer questions on comments from client.
- Perform site surveys to inspect existing equipment and electrical installation.
- Sourcing and ordering electrical equipment for the project.
- Supervise installation and commissioning of electrical panels, motors, MCCs, VSDs, lighting, and instrumentation systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have at least 2‑3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Have safety at the forefront of every task.
- Possess a keen attention to detail.
- Be confident in LV electrical and control systems.
- Have a good knowledge of instrumentation.
- Hold a degree in Electrical, Electronic or a similar engineering field.
- Be a strong written and verbal communicator.
