Join us and you’ll be responsible for ensuring the required standards of fleet compliance, budgetary control, supplier management and service to operational sites nationwide are maintained.
This is an important role helping support our distribution teams.
With a fleet consisting of over 1000 assets, Warburtons continues to invest heavily in our vehicle base with Zero Emission Vehicles already on the road and further investment agreed for the coming years. We are also an Earned Recognition operator and take great pride in achieving the highest standards of compliance and safety in our fleet operations. Key Accountabilities and Measures
- Carry out technical investigations into any PG9’s, MOT failures or Major Incidents. Manage accident repair / vehicle write off process.
- Support the continued development of the fleet by continuously improving on current standards in vehicle specification, maintenance, and procurement. As well as manage the integration of new vehicles and the successful retirement of outgoing fleet.
- All aspects of service provider management. Conduct regular review meetings to ensure required service levels are met. Annual audits to measure compliance to Warburtons standards. Source and evaluate new service providers to deliver all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair as required.
- Work with allocated Warburtons sites to ensure all aspects of fleet management are delivered in a timely and consistent manner.
- Work with allocated Warburtons sites to set maintenance spend and develop realistic and achievable budgets
- Ensure fleet compliance with all current and impending legislation changes. As well as continued compliance with all fleet requirements of the DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme.
Essential Ingredients
- Knowledge and experience of auditing operational compliance and vehicle service providers
- Structured and practical vehicle engineering skills – Membership of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers MIRTE (preferred)
- Certificate of Professional Competence of National Road Haulage – Level 3 (essential)
- Knowledge and experience of managing large fleet maintenance operations on a multi-site basis
- Extensive knowledge of dealing with DVSA and operator licence legislation
- Excellent communicating skills, articulate / develops effective, long-term relationships with all stakeholders
- Anticipates problems before they occur and takes steps to deal with them / correctly & swiftly identifies the underlying problem & finds appropriate solutions
- Negotiation skills – ability to negotiate with suppliers to deliver a benefit to both parties
- Able to support the management of major incidents involving DVSA / Emergency services.
