At Warburtons, family is at the heart of our business. Five generations' worth of expertise that goes into making our bakery products allows us to continue a tradition of baking inherited over the past 150 years. Warburtons is the largest bakery brand in the UK, but that doesn't allow us to rest on our laurels. We are pioneers of the industry and ambitious market leaders, always seeking to challenge ourselves and convention. It is part of our philosophy to provide honest good sense on issues of health and well-being, helping the whole family to enjoy our products as part of a healthy, balanced diet, through a range of products to suit all meal occasions, lifestyles and tastes.

The Recipe: Help us grow our brand where it matters most, in-store. We’re looking for an Instore Sales Territory Manager to own a key patch across Enfield, Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Luton, Dunstable, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Watford (and everything in between). This is a 12‑month maternity cover with plenty of variety, autonomy and real impact. If you love being out in the field, building strong retailer relationships and ensuring our products look their best on shelf, this could be the perfect blend.

The Role: As an Instore Sales Territory Manager, you’ll manage a territory of around 200 customers, planning your own diary time, based on customer sales opportunities, to make a difference out in-store. Your day‑to‑day will include:

  • Targeted visits per day across Multiples, High Street and Convenience channels.
  • Deliver our commercial plans with first-class execution.
  • Driving availability, promotions, POS and compliance across your patch.
  • Using data and insight to prioritise where to go and what to action.
  • Delivering NPD launches, supporting range reviews and landing planograms.
  • Building strong relationships with Store Managers, Trading Managers and store owners.
  • Recording activity using our field tools (tablet provided).
  • Working flexibly within a supportive Divisional team — whilst remaining highly self‑motivated in a remote role.

You’ll have real ownership of your territory and play a vital part in growing our brand presence on shelf.

Essential Ingredients: To rise in this role, you’ll need:

  • Field sales, retail or FMCG/commercial experience (typically 3+ years).
  • Confidence in turning store data into actionable results.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels in store.
  • A self‑driven, organised approach to planning your day and managing your patch.
  • Comfort with daily travel and store‑based activity.
  • A genuine team mindset — even in a remote role, we collaborate closely within the team but also with other functions across the business.
  • You must live within the territory (Enfield / St Albans/ Stevenage / WGC / Hatfield / Dunstable / Hemel / Watford areas).
  • Ability to start mid-March to allow for a handover (ideal, not essential).

Working pattern: Monday–Friday. 37.5 hours, with genuine flexibility to plan your day. 12‑month fixed‑term contract (maternity cover). Competitive salary, profit‑related bonus, and company benefits.

Extra Dough: At last and by no means yeast you will want to know what your bread's worth. A slice of the annual profits (discretionary profit share). Family time is important to us so as well as your holiday entitlement, we'll give you the opportunity to purchase up to an extra week's annual leave. Award winning pension scheme with company contributions up to 7%. Private medical insurance and life assurance. Products you will love along with deals and discounts for you and the family through our Extra Dough website. Continued investment in your personal development. Fully stocked kitchens filled with our delicious products for you to enjoy with your daily brew! Support for your health and wellbeing, including access to free physiotherapy, 24/7 access to a confidential helpline for practical advice and a comprehensive occupational health service.
